Aloy is going west soon. Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Guerilla Games announced that Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition will launch for PS5 on October 6, 2023. The companies also confirmed that a PC release via Steam and the Epic Games Store is set for early 2024.
Sony delivered the news via an update on the official PlayStation Blog. The blog also included an announcement trailer for Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition.
The trailer shows snippets of gameplay and narrative from Horizon Forbidden West, as well as Burning Shores expansion.
The game follows Aloy, the machine hunter of the Nora tribe and protagonist of Horizon Zero Dawn. She begins her journey striking out into the “Forbidden West” a dangerous frontier region of far-future North America, in search of a way to save Earth’s collapsing biosphere before a series of mysterious disasters destroys the remnants of humanity.
As the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, Forbidden West builds on the original game’s open-world exploration and real-time combat, with a focus on mobility and the use of advanced hunting weapons that blend advanced technology and pre-industrial hunting and tracking.
Aloy contends with many threats, including the series’ iconic robotic wildlife, as well as the human societies that have sprung up in the wake of the disaster that destroyed civilization as we know it.
What’s Included with Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition?
The Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition contains the base game for PS5, the Burning Shores expansion, and a number of goodies for fans who skipped the base release.
Also included in the package is:
- A digital soundtrack
- A digital art book
- The Horizon Zero Dawn Vol. 1: The Sunhawk digital comic book (available in English, German, Portuguese and Japanese languages)
- Extra poses and face paint in photo mode
- Carja Behemoth Elite outfit and Short Bow
- Nora Thunder Elite outfit and Sling
- Apex Clawstrider Machine Strike piece
- Resources pack (contains crafting materials and other helpful items)
The PC release of Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition will contain the same content, though it is being developed by studio Nixxes instead of Guerilla Games.
Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition launches exclusively on PS5 on October 6, 2023 and on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store in early 2024. The base game is available on PS4 and PS5.
