Atlus and Sega continue to promote the upcoming release of Persona 5 Tactica, their tactical RPG spin-off of Persona 5. With the game arriving on consoles and PC in mid-November 2023, players will have some time to get acquainted with the Phantom Thieves and their latest adventure in the Kingdoms.
Check out the trailer below via the official Sega Asia YouTube channel.
What are the Phantom Thieves up to now?
The new trailer introduces Toshiro, a rising star in Japan’s Diet and somehow a prisoner of the oppressive Empress Marie. Rescued by the Phantom Thieves and the mysterious rebel Erina, Toshiro positions himself as an “adult in the room.”
He tries to project calm and rationality, despite clearly being in over his head, a human politician in a world of demons and monsters.
Besides Toshiro’s introduction, the trailer reveals more about the game’s setting. Persona 5 Tactica takes the core members of the Phantom Thieves – Joker, Morgana, Skull, Ann, Fox, Oracle, and Queen – to another world entirely: The Kingdoms, A world ruled by authority figures.
The rulers of the Kingdoms – Empress Marie included – oppress their citizens and battle Erina and the rebel army.
The trailer also showcases glimpses of another kingdom modeled on a stylized version of medieval Japan. Ruled over by an evil Buddha-like being, the kingdom begs the rebels and Phantom Thieves for salvation.
Also included is footage of the game’s play mechanics, showing off its grid-based tactical systems and various enemies and allies. The Thieves all use their signature Personas – powerful forces drawn from the mind and taking the form of famed legendary monsters and heroes.
A Feast of Crow (and Violet)
Atlus also closes out the trailer with a tease of Persona 5 Tactica‘s planned “Repaint Your Heart” downloadable add-on. The pack will be available at launch and consists of challenge stages designed to test the crew’s strategic skills. The Repaint Your Heart pack will also feature an encounter with the Phantom Thieves Crow and Violet.
They played prominent roles in Persona 5 Royal, the enhanced rerelease of the original Persona 5. Crow’s role in Royal was greatly expanded in that game’s additional storyline, while Violet was an entirely new character. This is the first time Violet has appeared in a Persona 5 game spin-off.
Persona 5 Tactica launches for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch on November 17, 2023. It will appear on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass for subscribers on launch day.
