A remaster of the cult classic from FromSoftware, Demon’s Souls gives players an intricate world to explore and conquer while they slay monstrous foes and level up their characters. FromSoftware’s, Soulsborne genre was popularized by Demon’s Souls‘ follow-up Dark Souls, and the new remaster is an excellent way for any more unique fans to experience the hidden gem in its most beautiful form. Demon’s Souls Walkthrough
However, before jumping into the hunt for the game’s platinum trophy, you need to form a plan of how to approach it. Otherwise, you can end up wasting countless hours and playthroughs. So, we’ll first go over your path through the game to ensure that you get it done in the most efficient and fun way possible.
Step One: Pure White World Tendency
The first part of your playthrough is obviously to get through its tutorial, but make sure to take the Providential Ring as your starting gift in character creation. As you go through it, take your time and get as good of a grip on the game’s mechanics as possible. This is pivotal to the success of your playthrough, as otherwise, you’ll end up scrambling to learn how to play the game against much harder situations and monsters. Then, during your playthrough, you’ll be focusing on keeping the tendency of your world as white as possible.
To do this, make sure you rescue the NPC Ostrava of Boletaria when you go to the Boletarian Palace Archstone. You’ll then be sent to The Monumental, so make sure you accept the mission they offer you. This will open up the rest of the game’s world, allowing you to explore it and take down the bosses freely. As you kill bosses, make sure you keep nearly all their souls. Most of them are required to unlock unique spells and miracles, so you’ll want to make sure you have them to avoid an extra playthrough. The boss souls you don’t need for spells are the Beast Demon, Gray Demon, Large Scaled Flame Demon, Lead Demon, Mixed Demon, and Small Scaled Flame Demon.
As you go through, make sure to exhaust all dialogue options with the below NPCs every time you come across them:
- Biorr of the Twin Fangs
- Graverobber Blige
- Ostrava of Boletaria
- Patches the Hyena
- Sage Freke, the Visionary
- Saint Urbain
- Yuria, the Witch
Before you start your playthrough, make sure to also check the descriptions for the following missable trophies below:
- Brother-in-Arms
- Fists of Legend
- May you be unharmed
- Not Fooled
- One Shall Fall
- One Shall Stand
- Time for Rolling
Before moving on from this step, you also need to learn the following spells and miracles but don’t learn any others just yet:
- Acid Cloud
- Antidote
- Anti-Magic Ring
- Cloak
- Enchant Weapon
- Evacuate
- Familiar’s Prank
- Fire Spray
- Flame Toss
- Heal
- Hidden Soul
- Light Weapon
- Protection
- Regeneration
- Second Chance
- Soul Arrow
- Soul Ray
- Warding
- Water Veil
You also need to collect the following rings, which can be dropped by enemies or purchased from merchants:
- Cat Ring

- Cling Ring
- Flame Resistance Ring
- Fragrant Ring
- Gash Resistance Ring
- Graverobber’s Ring

Once you kill the Searing Demon and get its soul, make sure to take it to Blacksmith Ed. This will unlock a trophy right away while also setting you up to get another in the future. During this step, you can also complete the two online trophies, Return to Form and Unwelcome Guest, once you get your hands on the Blue Eye Stone and Black Eye Stone.
Trophies in this step:
- Phalanx’s Trophy
- Tower Knight’s Trophy
- Penetrator’s Trophy

- A Dash of Sage
- Umbasa

- Witch in the Tower
Step Two: World Tendency Events
Once you finish the above step, you should have a white-world tendency in every game area. This will allow you to tackle its associated world events. These events are below:
- Free Lord Rydell from his cell in the Tower of Latria: Prison of Hope with the key found in Upper Latria.
- Give the sword Makoto to Satsuki in Shrine of Storm’s: Island’s Edge.
- Receive the Istarelle weapon in the Valley of Defilement: Depraved Chasm.
You will also get the Dull Rat’s Ring as you do this. After you get the white tendency events done, you need to shift the world tendencies to black to complete those world events. The easiest way to do this is to go to each area and repeatedly kill yourself there while in body form. You’ll then have to shift your character tendency to Pure White. You can do this by killing the black shades of NPCs that appear when the world tendency reaches black that are below:
- Miralda the Executioner in Boletarian Palace: Gates of Boletaria
- Scirvir the Wanderer in Stonefang Tunnel: The Tunnel City
- Lord Rydell in Tower of Latria: Prison of Hope
- Satsuki in Shrine of Storms: Island’s Edge
- Selen Vinland in Valley of Defilement: Swamp of Sorrow
After that, you’ll have to go to the following areas and kill the new Primeval Demons that will appear there to collect three Colorless Demon Souls so you can use them to learn the Recovery miracle:
- Boletarian Palace: Inner Ward
- Stonefang Tunnel: Smithing Grounds
- Tower of Latria: Upper Latria
- Shrine of Storms: The Ritual Path
- Valley of Defilement: Swamp of Sorrow
Then, you’ll need to back-up your save either in the cloud or on a USB drive so that you can re-load it later. Then, go to Saint Urbain and learn the following miracles:
- Banish
- Cure
- God’s Wrath
- Resurrection
You can then reload your save and go to Sage Freke to learn the following spells:
- Death Cloud
- Fireball
- Homing Soul Arrow
- Poison Cloud
Once you get your character tendency to pure white, you’ll need to talk to The Monumental in The Nexus. Afterward, track down the following rings:
- Ally’s Ring in The Nexus
- Ring of Longevity in Shrine of Storms: Island’s Edge
- Ring of Uneven Scales in Shrine of Storms: Island’s Edge
- Sodden Ring in Tower of Latria: Upper Latria
Trophies in this step:
- Worthy of the Sword
- One of the few
- Saint’s Trophy
Step Three: Mephistopheles’ Sidequest
The next part of your playthrough will see you swinging your character tendency to pure black. The easiest way to do this is to kill the following NPCs and by invading other players’ worlds:
- Saint Urbain in The Nexus
- Saint Urbain’s Followers in the Nexus
- Sage Freke, the Visionary in The Nexus
- Sage Freke’s Apprentice in The Nexus
- Patches the Hyena in The Nexus
- Biorr of the Twin Fangs in The Nexus
- Yuria the Witch in The Nexus
- Ostrava of Boletaria in Boletarian Palace: The King’s Tower
You’ll then want to go and kill Old King Doran to collect his Demonbrandt and his ring. Then, collect the following rings to finish your ring collection:
- Eternal Warrior’s Ring in Boletarian Palace: Gates of Boletaria
- Foe’s Ring in The Nexus
- Ring of Devout Prayer in The Nexus
- Ring of Great Strength in The Nexus
Trophies in this step:
- King of Rings
Step Four: Finish Your Playthrough
Then, go back to The Nexus and spend all of your remaining souls with the Maiden in Black to level up as much as possible. You’ll then go to Boletarian Palace: The King’s Tower to kill the False King Demon and make sure to save its soul for a weapon in the future. Then, go back to The Nexus, and you’ll be teleported to an arena with the final boss, but make sure to bring the Evacuate miracle to get back to The Nexus after the fight. Once you beat the boss, take the Soulbrandt weapon from its body and then go back to The Nexus as fast as possible.
Then, take the Soulbrandt, Demonbrandt, and False King Demon Soul to Blacksmith Ed to create the Northern Regalia. After doing this, you’ll want to back up your save again so that you can unlock both of the game’s endings without doing an extra playthrough. Then, go to Under the Nexus and kill the Maiden in Black to get the bad ending. Re-load your save and go back to the Under the Nexus again, but exit out the fog rather than kill her. Once you watch the credits, you’ll be dropped back into The Nexus for a New Game+ run, and you’ll get the Maiden in Black Demon Soul, so make sure not to consume it.
Trophies in this step:
- False King’s Trophy
- Seekest Soul Power
- Legacy of the Kings
Step Five: The Final Step
Once you load back into your New Game+ run, kill the Phalanx to unlock the rest of the world. Then, find and kill the following bosses, and make sure to hold onto their souls:
- Armor Spider
- Dragon God
- Maiden Astraea
- Old Monk
- Penetrator
Then, go and save Yuria the Witch. Once Yuria is saved, use the souls you’ve collected to unlock the following spells and your platinum trophy:
