If you’re from a rare pool of players who got onboard with Assassin’s Creed video games starting with AC Origins and made your way to Odyssey and AC Valhalla, you will find Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s level-up mechanics a lot different from what you’re accustomed to. There is less grind, even a lesser skill count, and the game is made genuinely fun to play.
While, in theory, you can complete the entire story of Assassin’s Creed Mirage using the first few skills, I would not recommend you go down this path. Instead, you have four methods to level up faster in the game, get skill points & give Basim all the bells and whistles to fight the members of the Order.
For this reason, you will want to know how the leveling system works in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, its impact on skills, and how to level up Basim faster in the game. So, without further ado, here is our Assassin’s Creed Mirage: how to level up fast guide.
Bottom Line Up Front
If you want a gist about how to level up and get more skills in AC Mirage, read the following takeaways.
- Players can level up Basim by getting more skill points and investing them in the three skill trees.
- The easiest way to get skill points is by doing contract missions that specifically list 2 Skill points as a reward. However, these missions come in limited numbers, so you can not farm them back to back.
- Another way to level up or get skill points in AC Mirage is to play the story missions. This is the slowest method and will take much of your time. But you will get to buy most of Basim’s skills at the end of the game’s story.
- If you’re not maxed out on skill points by the end of the story, acquiring the Lost Books and completing the Tales of Baghdad missions will give you sufficient skill points to get every skill in all skill trees.
- Once you have reached the max level or acquired all Basim’s skills, you will unlock the Self-Improvement Silver Trophy in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
How to Level Up and Get Skills Faster in AC Mirage?
There are at least four methods to level up faster in Assassin’s Creed Mirage and accumulate more skill points to purchase some of the best skills in the game. There is no longer the grind of accruing XP (experience points) as seen in AC Valhalla, Odyssey, and Origins because this level-up mechanics is no longer present in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
On the bright side, you need to do the following actions to level up faster and essentially get the skill points in the game:
- Play Story Missions
- Complete Contracts
- Search and find the Lost Books
- Engage & complete Tales of Baghdad

1. Playing Story Missions
The easiest and the best method to get more skill points by leveling up in AC Mirage is to play the story missions back to back. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a narrative-focused game, and only a handful of side hustles could potentially distract and steer you away from engaging the story missions.
Additionally, completing the story mission of AC Mirage is not just the best possible way to experience the game; this has been one of the go-to methods for me to rack up skill points, level up Basim, and purchase skills from Phantom, Predator, and Trickster skill trees.
Is this method sufficient to get all skills by the end of AC Mirage? Absolutely not. By the end of the story missions, you will not be leveled up enough to get all the skill points necessary for overpowering Basim. That is why you must delve deeper into the side hustles/quests/missions Assassins’ Creed Mirage offers.
2. Completing Contracts
Contracts are much shorter in length than the main missions in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and they can be found on the Contract board inside the Hidden Ones’ Bureaus. New ones will appear every time you complete a few of the contracts listed on the board.
While contracts reward Basim a plethora of rewards ranging from weapons, outfits, upgrade resources, and various kinds of Tokens upon completion, you should pick the one that offers skill points in return. If you really want to put a pin on it, then look for contracts titled “The Bronze Mirror Heist,” The Kidnapped Scholar,” “The Perfume Trader,” and “The State Official.”
These are some of the early to mid-game contracts in Assassin’s Creed Mirage that will offer you skill points as a reward upon completion, and Basim will eventually level up faster.
Each contract comes with a special request from the Contractor, and I highly recommend you be extra cautious in meeting those requirements and make the most of these side missions in a single go. Otherwise, you will end up getting half the rewards.
One of the earliest contracts I took in AC Mirage involved not taking damage. I accidentally hurled a throwing knife on a flammable pot that incinerated the enemies and caught Basim ablaze in the process as well. That is why I highly recommend you create another Save File manually and reload that should you make a mistake in completing the contractor request objective.
3. Obtaining Lost Books
As shown in the image above, while roaming the open world of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, you occasionally stumble upon the Lost Book collectibles. Searching and collecting a Lost Book every time will reward you with one skill point and level up Basim in the process.
Even if you see the Lost Book collectible item using the game’s map, they are not easily found and are mostly tucked away behind a mini-puzzle. For the most part, you will rely on using the throwing knife to remove the door lock or flammable pots to destroy a weak structure in the walls, revealing a path to acquire the Lost Book.
Do you just roam the streets of Baghdad and rely on luck to find Lost Books? No, if you interact with Cartographers, they will offer you locations of hidden treasures in Baghdad, including the Lost Books. However, this service is not free, and you will need to have Scholar Tokens in Assassin’s Creed Mirage to be able to trade information with the Cartographer.
4. Tales of Baghdad
Tales of Baghdad are even more short stories or missions than the Contracts. There are a total of 6 Tales of Baghdad stories for you to uncover in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The only catch here is that no quest marker or any symbol on the map appears for this mission type. You need to find them on your own while exploring.
If you find at least one Tales of Baghdad story, completing it will unlock the Crossing Paths trophy and a skill point reward.
Wrapping Up
While on paper, there is no leveling system in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the progression of Basim is locked by how you acquire the skill points and invest in three unique skill trees. It is important you understand how this mechanic works in the game. Playing story missions, contracts, finding Lost Books, and completing Tales of Baghdad should give you enough boost to bolster Basim from an ordinary Assassin to a Master rank one.
Now that you’ve read this guide, you should be all set to get skill points and level up Basim faster in the game without wasting more time.
FAQs
Question: Can you unlock all skills by leveling up after completing the main story missions?
Answer: Yes, you can play contract missions and obtain all the Lost Books to get enough skill points and unlock skills from the three skill trees of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Just doing the main story missions will not reward you with enough skill levels or points to acquire every single Basim’s skills.
Question: Why do I not see more than one contract mission rewarding skill points on the Contract Board?
Answer: If you have just started Assassin’s Creed Mirage, you need to play the story missions side by side with contracts. New contract missions will appear as you complete the old ones and progress the story as well. If you just go after the contracts, the new ones will not appear on the Contract Board unless some story progression is not made.
Question: Is there a trophy/achievement that unlocks after getting all skills in Assassin’s Creed Mirage?
Answer: Yes, you will unlock the Silver Trophy titled ” Self-Improvement” after buying all skills in AC Mirage.
